One-light portrait
I adore natural light, and love nothing more than shooting with it. I’m keen to learn about artificial lighting too though, and never more so than in these short, dark winter days.
I was out in Ashbourne last week to snap some pics of Dionne in her ballroom dancing costumes. We were in a hotel, it was freezing and rainy outside and she only had five minutes between contests. Not ideal.
I’d recently read and starred this post over at Digital Photography School though. So, armed with my flash and a reflector I decided to give some of their tips a try. I’m quite happy with the result – although major credit goes to the very cool feature wall of Ashbourne’s Pillo Hotel.
{P.S. For further flash lighting inspiration, I would highly recommend The Hot Shoe Diaries by the wonderful Joe McNally}
