Small Space Inspiration

Small spaces

As I said earlier this week, I recently completely changed the layout of my apartment. It made me realise just how hard you have to work to make the most of small spaces – every corner, ledge and inch has to count, and everything has to have its place. Here are some of the fab small spaces that inspired me when I was re-shuffling the furniture last weekend.

In the pic I above, I love that Eleonore isn’t afraid to play with colour in a small space. I’m a total magpie, and though I would adore a cool monochromatic space (like this one) I know my love of colour would start creeping in. See the rest of Eleonore’s colourful home here.

This is a fun way to brighten up an awkward corner, which, living with a mezzanine, I certainly have.

How gorgeous is the lighting in this? It frames everything so nicely. The rest of illustrator Katie Rodger’s place is equally inspiring, check it out.

I have tons of magazines, and can never figure out how best to store them. Simple stacking works well here in Tina’s home though, doesn’t it? I love the idea of curling up on the giant leather seat and getting stuck into them.

More apartment-friendly inspiration over on my Pinterest board.

  1. I live in a really small space too, and I’m always trying to think about how to make it better. My trouble is that since I rent, I have to work around some of what’s already here (dark walls in a strange brown color and some furniture) so sometimes I feel a bit limited. It’s always nice to see other peoples’ small, organised space. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks Shannon! I know what you mean. Mine is a rental too, and it’s definitely a wee bit frustrating at times. I have this big dark blue couch and seat that I’ve covered in bright throws to stop it from sucking all of the light out of the room!

  2. Love the small space inspiration! 🙂
