Want to know what the picture of health is? I’m pretty sure it’s Liz Costigan. I’ve mentioned her before – she’s the super charged, super positive, super normal trainer that I’ve been working with these past few months. Her gorgeous new site, The Positive Fitness Project, has just launched, so I thought I would share some pics, along with some inspiring quotes, if you’re seeking out a little motivation to get moving – I know am!
I love the approach Liz takes, that fitness “isn’t just about sweating and six-packs”. So much of what I’ve changed in the past few months (and I’m so only getting started) has been about the way she’s made me think, rather than any diet and training programme.
I used to have this idea that the minute I started eating healthily and exercising I would be on track to look a certain way, but that all the fun stuff would disappear… but Liz has helped me realise that it’s like there are two circles – there’s the dream body, and the dream way of living/eating (aka, all the cheese). They are totally different, but I’m learning it’s as if they have this cool, venn diagram thing going on where they can overlap, and I can get to a place where I enjoy a steak and a few glasses of red and not feel like I’ve failed. I have so much to be grateful to Liz for – not least of all some seriously sore thighs, ha!
Liz’ new site has details about all her awesome offerings, from one-on-one sessions to her running club and her spinning classes. I’m really proud to have helped contribute to it, as I feel her approach is so much more authentic and inspiring than a lot of what’s out there.
Photography and graphics by me.
