Hola from Vitoria-Gasteiz, the pretty, historic capital of the Basque Country. It’s been a whirlwind non-stop couple of days, during which I’ve seen, tasted, learned – and photographed! – so much.
If you’d like, click through for some quick phone snaps from the last few days + some links I’ve been saving for the weekend, when Ben joins me in San Sebastian for some chillaxing…
“A woman who spent her life with a paintbrush in one hand and a 22-calibre rifle in the other, Saint Phalle is revealed in a new exhibition to have been both an artist and a warrior unlike any before her.”
I was completely blown away by the Niki de Saint Phalle retrospective at the Guggenheim, which only runs for a few more weeks. I can’t believe I had never heard of her! Looking forward to getting stuck into this piece about her life.

I spent ages looking through this beautiful Pinterest board filled with truly lovely tattoos.

Can’t wait to watch this: one of my favourite podcasters, Roman Mars, has made a Ted Talk: Why city flags may be the worst designed things you’ve never noticed.
Main pic: One of Niki de Saint Phalle’s ‘Nana’s’ at the Guggenheim, Bilbao.
Pics, from above left: A view over San Sebastian, more of de Saint Phalle’s Nanas; photo editing on our way to the next stop; dark chocolate with freshly grated salt (yes, really!), La Concha beach in San Sebastian; selfie in Bilbao, an incredible pintxo at Ganderias; a traditional cider house (both San Sebastian); and, finally, bubbles with a view in Bilbao.
Have a wonderful weekend!
