*big breath*
I have some pretty exciting personal news to share. If you’ve bumped into me at any stage over the past few weeks, you probably already know. Tomorrow is my last day as editor of Image Interiors & Living. In a week, I start a new job with the brilliant peeps at This is Productivity. To say it’s a huge change is an understatement.
Above all else, I’ve always tried to trust my curiosity, scary as that can be. It was my curiosity and interest in design that led to my job at Image Interiors & Living, and what a wonderful, enriching experience that has been. Over the past two and half years, I’ve grown and learned so much and have gotten to work with some of the most talented, inspiring people in the industry, not to mention getting to contribute to some of my very favourite magazines.
But for a while now, I’ve been becoming more curious about technology. It had been sort of a vague tug, a whisper in my ear. It’s gotten louder though – louder than my usual daily nerdy, gadget-loving, project-managing ways. I shared these feelings with Claire, and somehow, months later, serendipity has created an opportunity for me to join her team and dive head-first into a big, juicy, super nerdy project at This is Productivity.
When the opportunity first presented itself, I was terrified. More than that, I was incredulous. It seemed too mad, too risky, too out of my comfort zone. But I’m genuinely so excited by everything this company is doing, so excited by the things they are exploring, that I was reminded of the best advice Sheryl Sandberg ever received:
“If you’re offered a seat on a rocket ship, you don’t ask what seat. You just get on.”
So that’s what I’m doing! 🚀 The last few weeks have been busy, challenging and thrilling in their own way, as I prepare to make this leap.
In mad, changeable times like these, this blog is such an awesome anchor, such a great space to have. So if you’re reading this, thank you. I can’t wait to share what happens next.
