The Kid Edit
Cute easter bits, a favourite snack hack, plus what I'm searching for on Vinted.
I noticed a lot of what I was collecting, jotting down and noticing recently was kid or family themed, so we’re leaning into it.
4 fun easter things

- Spring-themed sensory rice

This was part of Ada’s second birthday present and inspired by this Inspire My Play post (the PlayTray pictured above has been going strong for 5+ years now, though the funnels – by the same brand – are new). I used food colouring to dye some old rice and added edible flowers, which I ordered from Irish company Sugar Sisters.
Wooden egg hunt game

How sweet are these little wooden eggs? Designed in Dublin by new biz Little Findies you can order them with or without the dotey handmade basket.
The cutest chocolate treats

Sligo-based Clo Chocolates have just launched their easter collection and I’m in love with the lot. Especially adore the Run, Bunny Run! bar, top, and this mini egg studded bar.
A beautiful egg book

This is our third or fourth year with this book and I adore it. Beautiful Eggs celebrates egg-decoration traditions from around the world using stunning cut-paper illustrations by author and illustrator Alice Lindstrom. There’s a handy cut-out at the end of the book too that you can use to trace an egg shape and design your own.
What we’re reading

Our current library haul consists of:
- Anna Hibiscus by Atinuke: Sweet and lively stories set in West African following the life of Anna and her family.
- Bear and Bird: The Adventure and Other Stories: Our first foray into this very cute and funny series.
- I’ve just done the spring book rotation, above, but we’re holding on to some lovely Valentine’s books, including Under the Love Umbrella and Out of Nowhere.
Ari is also listening to Wonka (the audiobook of the novel that was inspired by the film that was inspired by the original Roald Dahl book 😂 – but a fun listen all the same) and The Wild Robot.
Ada is loving My First Book of Irish Birds, a birthday present from Ari, and Usborne’s Peep Inside Springtime and Peep Inside A Bird’s Nest.
What we’re watching

Ari still adores Bluey (as do we all), Spidey (decidedly less so, but the tunes are insanely catchy) and Octonauts. He is a huge Animals Up Close/Bertie Gregory fan (can’t wait to show him the Secrets of the Penguins trailer), loved Moana 2 and is working his way through Yo Gabba Gabba Land as well the original show (including this epic episode featuring Solange and The Killers).
Ada giggles through Puffin Rock, Hey Duggee and, of course, Bluey.
(P.S. For some great insights on screentime, I heartily recommend .)
What we’re snacking on

I picked up the Pick Plate a few months back and it has been very handy. While I don’t consider Ari any more or less fussy than the next six-year-old, it has definitely helped him to reacquaint himself with foods he has previously gone off, on his terms.
His favourite snack at the moment is something we call “yoghurt pick ‘n’ mix” – quick and dirty pic above. He gets a bowl of natural yoghurt and a I fill each compartment of the plate with an assortment of toppings; usually banana, granola (both previously on the “no thanks” list), chopped apple, and chocolate chips, apple sauce or sprinkles. The whole thing is devoured.
Falling down the Vinted rabbit hole

We’re going camping in France in August, so I’ve started trying to shop for the kids’ holiday clothes on Vinted. The good stuff does indeed go fast though! My current favourites include pieces from Mini Boden, Oshkosh, Rylee + Cru, Soor Plum and Poudre Organic. Looking for lots of cotton and breathable fabrics.
Send any hot tips my way please!
