A family day trip to the Burren

One recent sunny-ish Sunday, we decided to pack some snacks and go exploring, so headed to the Burren, which we hadn't visited with the kids since Ada was a baby.

We did the 1.5km nature trail loop, which, for such a short loop, had a constantly changing terrain – a mix of beautiful mature ash and hazel woodland, with dappled sunlight filtering through, then open limestone for the kids to gleefully clamber over, dotted with the sweetest, tiniest flowers, as well as beautiful views of Mullaghmore and Lough Gealáin.

(Side note: We've been using this Planetbox stainless steel lunchbox for well over six years now, and it's held up so well.)

Before the walk, we popped into the Burren Slow Food Festival, where we bought far too many jars of Bia Cultures' tasty fermented wares as well as some Burren Smokehouse mackerel, incredible smoked honey marshmallows and some yum Linnalla ice cream.

And, of course, we bumped into some friendly Burren traffic on the way home...
